I am interested in the tectonic evolution of New England's bedrock.  The Ellsworth terrane of coastal Maine (Photo #1) hosts volcanic rocks of seafloor origin erupted in the southern hemisphere and later emplaced over continental rocks of interior Maine.  Field work and laboratory studies are underway to determine when, where, and how the seafloor was emplaced.
